Jennifer and Joel - June 21st 2014 Scottish Rite Indianapolis

Jennifer and Joel fit together perfectly and I had the pleasure of providing the sound for their wedding ceremony and the music for their very fun reception at Indy's fairy tale venue, Scottish Rite Cathedral! Special thanks to photographer Kristen Hornberger for allowing the use of her photo's and to Wedding Planner and floral and decor designer Lindsey Romack of Ooh La La events for her flawless execution at tying all the details together.

The wedding ceremony was held in the South lounge with the harp music played by Elizabeth O'meara

Guests then proceeded to the mezzanine overlooking the ballroom for the cocktail hour.

At the end of the cocktail hour, guests were invited to make their way to the railing to witness Jennifer and Joel's first dance. Photo below by Grapevine (I got a lucky shot).

A fabulous dinner by Thomas catering, a gorgeous cake by Classic cakes and a fun photo booth from Indy Photobooth all awaited the bride and groom's friends and family.

Oh yeah - and lots of dancing (more pics on the way)!

At the end of the night, Jennifer and Joel departed with a sparkler send off and Joel surprised Jennifer with an awaiting carriage; just to complete the fairy tale experience!

Elizabeth and Michael - Laurel Hall May 31st 2014

Liz and Mike's wedding was a perfect reflection of the the two of them:  relaxed, fun, unexpected, non-conformist yet not too far from tradition; just off the beaten path. The wedding ceremony and reception were both held at Laural Hall. If you have never been there, think mini castle with beautiful woods and lawns.

Before the ceremony, guests were invited to have some fun playing lawn games and to enjoy some beverages on the patio. Outside background music of choice (from the bride and groom) was Carolina Beach music and Bluegrass!

After about an hour, guests were invited down the steps to the lower lawn for the wedding ceremony lovingly officiated by Liz and Mike's friend Whitney. Liz walked down the aisle with her Father to the song Can't Help Falling In Love - Ingrid Michaelson.

Note the 5:00 pm shade for the guests.

Following the ceremony, it was back to the patio for a 2nd cocktail hour and photo time for the bride, groom and family. The music of choice was Motown!

After the cocktail hour, guests headed to the dining room for introductions.  Welcome and toasts followed, and then a delicious family style dinner catered by Hoaglin Catering ensued. True to their non-conformist style, Liz and Mike decided to skip having a traditional cake (and cake cutting) and thought cupcakes and mini pies would be a nice change of pace for dessert.

After dinner and dessert, guests were spread inside and out but came together for Elizabeth and Mike's first dance to Can't Help Falling in Love by Elvis Presley.

Liz then shared a dance with her Father and Mike with his Mom. From there it was open dancing for the next 2 and half hours. When I announced at 10:55 it was time for the last dance of the evening I was booed (in a friendly way) which later Liz and Mike apologized for - but I told them I took it as a great compliment - It meant everyone was having a great time and did not want the night to end!
I have to say that this is one reception where I wish I was a guest and not working (though I loved every minute!) Congratulations to Elizabeth and Mike and I hope you have a blast on your honeymoon in Greece!

First dance - Can't help falling in love - Elvis Presley
Father Daughter dance - Time to Say Goodbye - Sarah Brightman & Andrea Bocelli (shorter edit)
Mother Son dance - In my life - Beatles
Biggest song of the night Rapper's Delight - Sugar Hill Gang (Request from guest)

We put all kinds of Spotify music lists on the planning page of our web site. Some of the songs are popular favorites and some are a little of the wall. The lists include songs for both the wedding ceremony and reception. We also have Spotify lists for dancing. Here is some of our favorite hip hop songs. New ice-breaker from Grapevine - Mingler cards!

Looking to add some spice and laughter at your guests tables?

Grapevine came up with this idea for 2014 and you will ONLY see it from us. Mingler Cards!

We place our song request cards on each table (guests can text songs to us as well) - on the back are trivia questions, physical challenges, mini-games, and other assorted fun stuff - Every card at each table is different.

This is a great way to break the ice and have some fun while waiting for the introductions, between courses or after dinner before the dancing gets started. Mingler cards are optional. We can provide standard request cards or our Mingler Cards.

If you like, we can even provide customized and personalized bride & groom trivia to add to each tables pack of Mingler Cards.

Just a few examples from our deck of Mingler Cards.

A word about photobooths at weddings

Planning on having a photo-booth at your wedding reception?
Here is some advice - Don't hang out at it all night or your dance floor will empty and people who don't know where you are will leave (I saw this at several weddings last year). I recommend hiring an owner who is also the photobooth operator who knows how to fix a printer or replace a faulty cable rather than someone who sends a kid making a low hourly wage who has no investment in how the night turns out. Check out these companies.

Indy Photo Booths

In addition, many photographers offer fun photo walls with props that accommodate larger number of people at the same time. I'm a fan of these.
