Jessica and Jason - November 1st 2014 - Mavris Art & Event Center

Jessica and Jason wanted to throw their friends and family a fantastic party to help celebrate their new lives together as husband and wife and that's just what they did! The wedding ceremony took place on the third floor of the Mavris Art & Event Center. Jessica walked down the aisle to a piano instrumental version of  "I and Love and You" (Avett Brothers) and the couple chose Imagine Dragons "On top of the world" for the recessional.

After the ceremony, guests walked a few steps to the bar area also on the Mavris's third floor for refreshments during the happy hour! Jessica and Jason selected all their favorite songs for the cocktail hour and dinner but left the music for dancing up to me and guest requests. I can usually predict how well a party (dancing) is going to go by how loud it gets during the cocktail hour. The background music was almost impossible to hear over the conversations. I knew this was going to be a great party!

After an hour, guests were invited to be seated for dinner on the second floor. Dinner and service by the Mavris's amazing catering staff was delicious!

After dinner, Jessica and Jason cut the cake to "Better together" by Jack Johnson and dessert was served followed by heartfelt (and on occasion, hilarious) toasts from the maid of honor, best men (Jason's Brothers) and Jessica's Father.

Jessica and her Dad then headed to the dance floor for the Father Daughter dance. Jessica chose the song "Wonder" by Natalie Merchant. Jason then danced with his Mom to Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Simple Man" which I made a shortened edit of  (3:30) because that song goes on for over six minutes and thirty seconds.

Then Jessica and Jason had their first dance to a great Beatles cover of "I've just seen a face" by Dawn & Hawkes.
From there the dance floor opened and guests partied HARD for over three and a half hours - It flew by!
Many of the guests were from Plymouth Indiana where I traveled several years ago to do two weddings and both couples were in attendance. Something must be in the water (or maybe it's the blueberries) there because those weddings were both exceptionally fun as well!

Here is ten minutes of fun on the dance floor.

Special thanks go out to banquet manager and event Designer Ellie Lowe from the Mavris who did an absolutely fantastic job directing the nights events - It was a large & wild crowd but everything ran perfectly. I also want to thank photographer Jennifer Van Elk and her husband Steven who I got to work with for the first time - It was a pleasure and I can't wait to see the "real" photos from this incredible night!

Brittany and Joseph - September 6th 2014 - Barn Wedding (Diamonds & Dust)

Brittany and Joseph along with about 300 friends and family members celebrated in rustic yet chic style on Saturday! Joseph and Brittany were raised in Logansport and were high school sweethearts. They began dating in May of 2005 and continued to date on and off throughout high school (yes that is 9 years). Their relationship continued into their college years, falling deeply in love with one another. They now live together and have a dog named Bucklie who actually helped with the proposal.

Their barn wedding was totally awesome with lots of laughs and dancing!

Have fun in Paris!

Some people may find this blog on a search and might want to see the inside and outside of the Diamonds and Dust barn/venue so here is some shaky video.

Laura and Nichole - August 16th 2014 - Canal 337

When I met with Laura and Nichole they were such a fun couple I knew I wanted to share in their special day - The pair were legally married in Hawaii but wanted to celebrate in a big way with friends and family who could not attend. A second wedding ceremony was held on the second floor of Canal 337 (Formerly Creation Cafe and Euphoria Events).  Those closest to the two witnessed the couple as they exchanged rings and vows. The reception followed downstairs with the cocktail hour on the patio overlooking the canal giving photographer Debbie Meyer plenty of time to shoot photos of the 2nd time newlyweds. Guests then moved inside and saw a beautiful room decked out for the occasion. Lindsey Romack and her staff from Ooh la la Events did an amazing job with planning and the décor. Grapevine provided the blue up-lighting and the couple's heart design projection on the dance floor. Thomas catering did their usual job of surpassing everyone's expectations - Food stations throughout the room served Ahi Tuna, Pulled pork on a biscuit, Buffalo wings and bleu cheese macaroni plus a mashed potato bar! The late night treat was a ice cream "lollipop" quick-frozen in liquid nitrogen - A sparkler exit and a gondolier voyage up the canal were just a couple of other highlight from this magical day.

Unique cinematographer for a unique couple - Mavris wedding - Wayback machine set to 2012

I was reminded of a very cool wedding I was fortunate enough to be a part of in October of 2012 at The Mavris Art & Event Center. The couple was so much fun to work for and put a lot of their personality into their party. They happened to find an awesome Cinematographer out of Ft. Wayne called Thread and Film who captured a lot of it in one of the most unique ways I have ever seen. Check it out.
