New ice-breaker from Grapevine - Mingler cards!

Looking to add some spice and laughter at your guests tables?

Grapevine came up with this idea for 2014 and you will ONLY see it from us. Mingler Cards!

We place our song request cards on each table (guests can text songs to us as well) - on the back are trivia questions, physical challenges, mini-games, and other assorted fun stuff - Every card at each table is different.

This is a great way to break the ice and have some fun while waiting for the introductions, between courses or after dinner before the dancing gets started. Mingler cards are optional. We can provide standard request cards or our Mingler Cards.

If you like, we can even provide customized and personalized bride & groom trivia to add to each tables pack of Mingler Cards.

Just a few examples from our deck of Mingler Cards.

A word about photobooths at weddings

Planning on having a photo-booth at your wedding reception?
Here is some advice - Don't hang out at it all night or your dance floor will empty and people who don't know where you are will leave (I saw this at several weddings last year). I recommend hiring an owner who is also the photobooth operator who knows how to fix a printer or replace a faulty cable rather than someone who sends a kid making a low hourly wage who has no investment in how the night turns out. Check out these companies.

Indy Photo Booths

In addition, many photographers offer fun photo walls with props that accommodate larger number of people at the same time. I'm a fan of these.

I came across this blog from Tall and Small Photography - Indianapolis Children's Museum - July 13th 2013

I'm not sure how I happened across this blog from a wedding last July at the Children's Museum, but the photos are so cool I just had to share this blog from Tall + Small photography -  Nathan and Rebecca (the bride and groom) were a pleasure to work with and they had so many great ideas to make sure their wedding was one of a kind.

I dug up a couple of pictures I took. Here is the cake topper (Photo by Mark Beecher)

Amanda and James - Crowne Plaza Union Station December 28th 2013

5 solid hours of non-stop dancing - This was a crowd who was ready for a night of celebrating!
It was my pleasure to provide the music for Amanda and James wedding ceremony as well as emcee and provide the jams for their marathon reception for over 400 friends and family members. Easygoing, fun, and extremely likable are just a few words that would describe Amanda and James as a couple - also, big lovers of country music and classic rock. Their wedding took place at one of the most unique spots in Indy, Union Station. This is one of my favorite locations because of it’s history, beauty and giant dance floor.
Amanda and James, thanks for letting me be a part of your incredible day and night - I know you have a bright future as a married couple ahead!

Photo above.
I always use a remote speaker at Union Station - It helps project the music to the bar area during the cocktail hour and it helps the guests seated away from my main set up to clearly hear announcements, toasts etc as well as providing even sound for dinner music.

Meganne and Charles - Indiana History Center September 1st 2013 - Indiana Historical Society

In September I had the pleasure of providing the music and serving as the emcee for Meganne and Charles Brezina's wedding reception at the always elegant and magnificent Indiana History Center in Indianapolis. Meganne looked absolutely stunning and Charles looked pretty dapper himself. You could really tell how much they adore each other! They were surrounded by loving friends and family and I think everyone had an amazing time dancing the night away! One of the highlights were the individual cakes at each table. Meganne and Charles went to each table a cut the cake - It was a nice personal touch. Another highlight was Meganne's Father who asked for the microphone after I introduced the wedding party so he could personally introduce the new Mr and Mrs!
I am so honored to have been a part of this wonderful celebration and wish Meganne and Charles an incredible future and lifetime of happiness.
My thanks to photographer Anne (super-talent) Buskirk for use of the photos.

Bronwyn and Justin - Purdue Memorial Union Hall November 30th 2013

Congratulations Bronwyn and Justin!!! It was a beautiful fall day in Lafayette and everything was just exactly perfect! Bronwyn had a perma-smile on all night! Justin brought his A-game and wore his love for Bronwyn on his sleeve. I couldn’t be happier for these two and I’m so glad I got to be a part of their celebration. At the end of the reception Justin was still keeping the honeymoon a surprise to Bronwyn, but where-ever they wound up, I know they are the happiest couple there!

Thank you guys again :)

Alexann and Jake - Mavris Event Center November 9th 2013

How long have I been a DJ? I just started Grapevine about the time my friends Mike and Martha had a baby boy and named him Jake. He's all grown up and he found his perfect match in Alexann!
If you have ever been to the Mavris you know it's a great spot for a party and this night was no exception. It started with the wedding ceremony and the cocktail hour on the third floor and then guests moved downstairs for dinner and lots of dancing - It was a blast and it was a big honor to be a part of this celebration.
Thanks to my photographer friends Brandon and Cybil for the photos.  Also thanks to Ellie Lowe with The Mavris who helped make everything flow perfectly.
